Crash: Homage to JG Ballard Mar 04, 2010

Jeff Koon, Couple (Dots) Landscape, 2009

Emily loves this… Because sometimes (particularly after braving Topshop on a Friday afternoon) she has a sneaking suspicion that this is JG Ballard’s world, and we all just live in it. Celebrating the late sci-fi writer’s dystopian, S&M vision is a new show at Gagosian’s Kings Cross gallery, which gathers the darkest works from both artists who inspired Ballard and those who have been inspired by him. There are brilliant, brutal, infrequently seen works by Francis Bacon and Cindy Sherman, a Jake and Dinos Chapman-designed cover of an imaginary Ballard novel called Bangwallop, and a frankly gratuitous Damien Hirst oil of a blood-sprayed car bonnet entitled Suicide Bomber (Aftermath). Not your average, genteel Saturday-afternoon gallery viewing, and all the better for it.

THAT'S HOT: LULU

We love Lulu’s style…Because she effortlessly chanels the shearling super trend here in her mothers vintage leather and sheepskin jacket.
